Cencora unified warehouse capacity planning and gained faster control over distribution center performance
The pharmaceutical distributor moved from limited Excel-based planning to a modern Qlik Sense application that enables capacity scenario simulations in seconds, daily operational performance evaluation, and scalable use across distribution centers.

Problem
Cencora, formerly Alliance Healthcare, is one of the main pharmaceutical wholesalers in the Czech Republic. Workforce capacity planning in the warehouse was originally based on an Excel model created for a single branch. The model helped plan capacity according to the expected workload, but it was not suitable for broader use across distribution centers. Data had to be updated manually, and the solution was not easy to scale.
At the same time, warehouse operations generated a large volume of detailed data. In the employee performance application, around 70,000 records were processed per day on average, as every employee pick represented one row in Excel. Evaluating performance, filtering employees, and transforming the data into a management view became unsustainable in this structure. Cencora therefore needed a more sustainable and centrally managed solution that would unify operational data, simplify sharing, and enable work as well as manual inputs across distribution centers.
Solution
EMARK transferred the original Excel model into Qlik Sense, creating a centrally managed, scalable solution for capacity planning and operational evaluation of distribution centers. Data is automatically loaded from source systems, transformed in Qlik, and used by users in an application where they can simulate capacity scenarios, monitor the development of warehouse work, and evaluate performance in a unified environment that writes everything to the DB and maintains a clear change log.

What we delivered
“By simply filtering for a distribution center, we can quickly see exactly what we need. In one application, we can dynamically change the view depending on which operation we are working with.”
Otomar Mach
Deputy director of distribution center
