Problem

As production capacity and order volumes in the Czech Republic gradually increased, the complexity of Foxconn’s IT environment and the amount of available data grew significantly. Information was coming from many different departments, making it increasingly difficult to gain a unified, up-to-date, and clear overview.

Traditional reporting based on MS Excel and heavy reliance on the IT department was no longer sufficient. The existing tools could not efficiently handle very large volumes of data or answer new analytical questions focused on the root causes of problems. This slowed down decision-making, reduced flexibility, and limited the ability to respond quickly to changes in production.

Solution

We implemented self-service analytics in Qlik Sense, connecting production, logistics, and quality data from key systems into one high-performance analytics environment. As a result, Foxconn significantly reduced the time needed to prepare reports, can identify root causes of production defects faster, and enabled business users to work with data without relying on IT.

Before

Difficult and slow identification of root causes in production issues
Limited ability to analyze large volumes of data
Reporting mainly based on MS Excel and MS Access
Strong business dependence on the IT department

After

Significant reduction in the time needed to prepare reports
Fast analysis of production defects and productivity
Self-service BI available directly to business users
Ability to view data from different perspectives

Solution

Shortened time to insight
Deployment of Qlik Sense as a self-guided visual analytics platform
Focus on ease of use while maintaining high analytical performance
Gradual implementation from pilot areas into production and logistics
Integration of key data sources, including SAP, shopfloor systems, and Excel
Parallel testing of multiple BI tools and detailed comparison of their capabilities

The benefit of Qlik lies in its technology. Its technological engine is well-tuned and powerful, which means a very good price-to-performance ratio. We can get to results very quickly, mainly thanks to the in-memory technologies the solution is built on. In addition to fast analytics, the visual aspect and user-friendliness are also important.
